Paddling the Mahoning River

I loved this scene and decided to paint it again in acrylics. This Acrylic painting was accepted in the YWCA Women’s Art Show and is on display the month of July, 2021 along with my painting of The Silver Bridge. This painting was purchased at the show in Youngstown Ohio.

The Lowellville Bridge

For this painting, I went back to the location a week later and painted it in plein air. Loved how more of the trees displayed their fall colors for me. I learned so much about the advantages of painting in plein air by painting these three paintings. Look how much closer the bridge looks compared the the ones I painted from my photos that threw the bridge far into the distance. If I would have zoomed in on the bridge, I would have lost my foreground. All three tied as being the favorite on my personal facebook page which really surprised me too. My favorite of the three, I am displaying this one in my home for now but have beautiful prints of it for sale - email: beth@bethbasistapaintings.com

2021 has been an exciting painting year for me. I started taking on commission work, have had opportunity to paint “en plein air” and have had several paintings accepted and sold in shows. My painting “Awe Sanibel… Almost there” (the painting below with the Sanibel bridge at left) has been accepted to be included in The Butler Institute of Art’s show that begins October 31st and will be on display through November 23rd. Having a painting displayed in this museum is a dream come true for me! Please go to Beth Basista Paintings on facebook & on Instagram. I hope you will like or follow my pages so that you’ll see new paintings as I complete & share them.
